25 for 25 is an original content series by Gucci and CHIME FOR CHANGE to mark the historic milestone of Beijing +25 in March, as well as Women’s History Month. The series will highlight activists, CHIME Advisory Board members, partners and supporters who represent the progress made on gender equality over the past 25 years, as well as the emerging next generation continuing this critical work.
CHIME is honored to feature Judy Kan, the Executive Director of HER Fund, who works to support the most marginalized women and girls in Hong Kong.
HER Fund is based in Hong Kong, and invests in human rights advancement for women and girls, especially related to freedom from violence, discrimination and poverty, and the promotion of women’s civil participation. Through CHIME FOR CHANGE’s longtime partner, the Global Fund for Women, CHIME supports HER Fund’s work connecting young activists with experienced activists and grassroots organizations. What are your hopes and expectations for gender equality in the next 25 years?
I do wish to see a world with bold women and girls, coming together to decide their own futures and shaping the decisions that affect not only their lives, but their communities, their societies, and the world. Gender equality is not just for women and girls, but it provides opportunities for all of us to enjoy live without discrimination and to be free. Working together with these audacious women and girls gives me the energy to mobilize more resources to achieve gender equality together.
