Event Recap: An Inspiring Conversation on Everyday Activism

On July 23, Gucci and Equality Now hosted the third annual panel event on everyday activism, featuring the following young individuals in conversation with each other, moderated by Lindsay Peoples Wagner, Editor in Chief of Teen Vogue:

-Amanda Nguyen, Founder and CEO of Rise and 2019 Nobel Peace Prize Nominee

-Priya Vulchi and Winona Guo, CHOOSE Co-Founders and Authors

-Sage Dolan-Sandrino, Youth Creative and Activist

-William Lohier, NYC Youth Poet Laureate 2018

-Xiuhtezcal Martinez, Climate Warrior and Youth Director of Earth Guardians

The group discussed how their generation does (or does not) define “activism”, their identities as it relates to their work on social issues, the role of digital media in activism and how corporations can support grassroots activism, among other topics.

Susan Chokachi, President and CEO of Gucci America and Yasmeen Hassan, Global Executive Director of Equality Now opened the evening discussing the importance of cross-generational collaboration and new, innovative approaches to creating change. The event builds on Equality Now’s longstanding partnership with Gucci and CHIME FOR CHANGE that includes a current project to develop young leaders for gender equality.
