CHIME for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights

May 28, 2019

Since its founding in 2013, CHIME FOR CHANGE has directly supported projects for sexual and reproductive health and rights, as well as maternal health, reaching more than 154,000 girls and women globally with critical resources and services. Working with leading global partners including Friends of UNFPA, Global Fund for Women, International Planned Parenthood Federation, Mothers2Mothers, UNICEF, and Women Deliver, among others, CHIME FOR CHANGE projects have served communities in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil, Cambodia, the Dominican republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Kenya, Laos, Liberia, Mali, Mexico, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda, the UK and the US.  Funded projects include reproductive health workshops for women, training female physicians to support IUD use, providing ultrasounds during pregnancy, family planning resources for rural women, and interventions to prevent mother-to-child HIV transmission. Additionally, CHIME FOR CHANGE supports campaigns calling for increased funding and policies for increased sexual and reproductive health and rights.

Currently, CHIME FOR CHANGE supports leading nonprofit partners working with gender equality activists to harness the power of the next generation to create change for girls and women. These partnerships include support for leaders who are mobilizing locally in support of sexual and reproductive health and rights such as:

-Supporting movement-building conducted by Semillas, a local group organizing around eliminating the stigma and decriminalizing abortion in Mexico through a partnership with the Global Fund for Women.

-Working with grassroots organizations in the US to build and expand an inclusive reproductive justice movement that ensures women’s access to the full range of reproductive services through a partnership with the Ms. Foundation, founded by Gloria Steinem.

-Funding grants to youth activists globally who have created local advocacy projects on topics including contraception, comprehensive health services, adolescent health and HIV/AIDS with Women Deliver.
