Connecting and mobilizing young women activists to drive progress on human rights in the Middle East and North Africa.

After the Arab Spring, post-revolutionary regimes in the Arab region have imposed restrictive laws on civil society organizations and activists to silence dissent, including by limiting citizens’ rights to organize and assemble. We’ve seen significant backtracking on gender equality and increasing restrictions on women’s rights groups and activists in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

Supported by a grant from CHIME FOR CHANGE, Equality Now will convene gender equality activists and grassroots partners from across the MENA region to share experiences and strategies, and build their capacity to organize. We’ll support these activists – especially young women activists – to advance legal change in their countries, on issues including ending child marriage, male guardianship, sexual violence and sexual harassment, and promoting equality in nationality and inheritance laws.

Make a donation today to join our work to support the young women activists that are essential to the future of the women’s rights movement in MENA and around the world.
